Duane Vermeulen the new Vodacom Blue Bulls Super Hero
It’s always exciting when one of your favourite Springboks joins the team of the town you live in!
The Bulls new vision, spearheaded by the new President Willem Strauss is in place to bring back the winning culture for fans of the iconic Rugby Brand! The work Strauss have done in the past 8 months is just short of miraculous ranging from injecting passion into club rugby, restructuring finances and causing a flutter of excitement in the Blue Bulls Rugby Union’s inner circle’s Coaches, Administrators, Union Committee Members and the Media!
I always believed Duane Vermeulen is that guy I always felt would be a great attribute to the Blue #BullsFamily as we need to get more senior players with Role Model ability and experience in the mix.
The Big Springbok eight-man is a high impact, tough-as-nails ball carrying loosie, currently playing in Japan! He will arrive in Pretoria in February 2019 and will spend the duration of the season with the Vodacom Blue Bulls.
Big Duane proudly pulled the Green and Gold Springbok jersey over his head no less than 42 occasions and boasts with a professional career as a team member of a number of top-class teams including the Pumas, Toyota Cheetahs, DHL Stormers, Toulon and the Kubota Spears.
At the age of 32, “Thor” as his fans named him is a seasoned veteran, who just seems to be getting better every year.
Duane is also a massive crowd favourite amongst all South Africans, and he will no doubt be welcomed with open arms by the Loftus faithful.
“2019 is going to be a massive year for us and I’m keen on starting it with an impact at Loftus. The Bulls have always been a team that I have respected and I’m looking forward to joining the family.” – Duane Vermeulen
So all that’s left to be said then is… Welcome to Loftus, THOR!
